Meningitis vaccinations are still available to Students returning to University after the Christmas break
First year students up to the age of 25 are still eligible for the free Meningococcal ACWY vaccine, which protects against a particularly deadly form of meningitis, meningococcal W (Men W).
It’s vital that students are not complacent about the threat of meningitis – you are urged to take up this lifesaving vaccine. Teenagers and students are at higher risk from the disease because they mix closely with large numbers of new friends, some of whom will unknowingly be carrying the bacteria, enabling it to spread more easily, Meningitis Now has renewed its call for more to get vaccinated.
If you live in halls or in the Treforest area contact the Health Centre 01443 48 2081 to book an appointment for the vaccination.
Alternatively contact your GP surgery and request the vaccination
