There are regular doctors’ clinics at our Treforest Wellbeing and Disability Service in Hirwaun Building. To see a General Practitioner (GP) on Treforest campus, you must be registered with Ashgrove GP practice.
Treforest Campus GP Clinics
- To see a GP on our Treforest campus , you must be registered with Ashgrove surgery, Pontypridd
- Appointments can be booked through the University Nurse Advisers or alternatively Contact the Health Service to arrange a GP appointment.
GP Appointments are available Monday afternoons, Wednesday and Friday mornings during term time.
Health drop in sessions are held regularly during term time on Treforest campus in H016 Mon – Fri between 2 -3pm for general health enquiries, booking apts for both the Nurse or GP.
Cardiff & Newport Campuses
Whilst there is a Nurse led Health Service at both the ATRiuM and Newport Campus in order for you to see a GP you will need to find your closest GP practice in the area you are living. This can be done by visiting the NHS Wales link and use your Cardiff or Newport address postcode to find out the nearest surgery
You will need Your NHS number (this can be obtained by contacting your previous GP surgery or it can be found on your medical card, a repeat medication prescription or any hospital letters you may have received) as well as proof of identity and a Utility bill with your new address on. In addition, you will need the name and address of your previous GP
If you have any problems registering with a Cardiff or Newport GP surgery please make an appointment with the Nurse at the ATRiuM or Newport campus via Advice Zone online
If you are living at Newport Student Village – registration with Bellevue Surgery is available through an appointment with the Nurse adviser. Please book an appointment via Advice Zone onlineCommon Ailment Service at your local pharmacy This is a new service offered at most pharmacies in Wales . In order to access this service You need to be registered with a Welsh GP. The service can be used to access advice and treatment for some common ailments free of charge from the pharmacist. (eg acne, diarrhoea, sore throat, cold sores, backache, thrush, skin problems, indigestion, mouth ulcers plus many more).
Students living in Treforest but studying at the Atrium campus can access health care from the Treforest Health centre
All students studying at USW are able to contact the University Health Service for advice from a Nurse .
