First Aid can save lives.
The NHS advises, that if someone is injured in an accident:
- First check that you and the casualty are not in any danger. If you are, make the situation safe.
- When it’s safe to do so, dial 999 or 112 for an ambulance, if necessary.
- Carry out basic first aid.
Learning First Aid
The Red Cross first aid app gives simple, easy advice on everyday first aid scenarios, as well as tips on how to prepare for emergencies, from severe winter weather to road traffic accidents. St John Ambulance have two First Aid apps, including one specially for cyclists.
You may need a first aid certificate to apply for certain jobs, which would require you to go on a course. British Red Cross offer a number of courses, please contact them for details.
